The 2025 edition of the Festival Internasional Kreol, a major cultural and touristic rendez-vous celebrating Kreol identity through music, arts, language and cuisine, will be held from 05 to 07 December 2025 under the theme “Otantisite nou kiltir kreol”. The announcement was made at a press conference in Port Louis by the Minister of Tourism, Richard Duval, in the presence of Junior Minister Sydney Pierre and other dignitaries. Minister Duval подчерк highlighted that this year’s edition will focus on improved quality and organisation despite budgetary constraints, while benefiting from strong support from the private sector, particularly the hotel industry. He also noted that the number of artists will be reduced this year due to budget and scheduling considerations, and that discussions are underway with transport operators to facilitate public access.
The Minister further announced that regional participation is expected from La Réunion, Rodrigues, Seychelles and Agalega, while cultural presentations focusing on the Chagos Archipelago will also feature, offering a platform for regional cultural exchange. Junior Minister Pierre underlined that the festival remains a key highlight of the national cultural and touristic calendar, reflecting the richness, diversity and uniqueness of Mauritian Kreol identity.
The festival will kick off on 5 December at Mont Choisy with the symbolic lighting of the torch, a theatre performance and a major concert. On 6 December, activities will continue at Trou d’Eau Douce with a range of cultural displays at Four à Chaux, before concluding on 7 December at Mahebourg with a traditional regatta and culinary demonstrations at the waterfront.
