Dr Patrick Herminie sworn in as Seychelles’ sixth President

Dr Matthew Antonio Patrick Herminie of United Seychelles was on Sunday sworn in as the new President of the Republic of Seychelles.

This follows his victory in the presidential election runoff, held on October 9, 10 and 11 across the islands where he secured 34,389 votes, or 52.7 percent of all valid votes, against his opponent Wavel Ramkalawan of Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS). Mr Ramkalawan garnered a total of 30,823 votes, or 47.3 percent of all valid votes cast.
